Centennial Park has been a popular destination for the whole community since Sir Henry Parkes opened the "people's park" to the public in 1888.

Sir Henry Parkes statue, Centennial ParkOver the last 119 years Centennial Parklands (Centennial Park, Moore Park and Queens Park) has grown to encompass more than 360 hectares of land in the heart of a growing metropolis providing current and future generations room to move, fresh air to breathe and a space to play.

Over this time the number of visits to these Parklands has grown to over six million per year...growing at a rate of around 150,000 per year!

The 360 hectares of public parkland provide a vital space for the community. Any day of the year, you find your own little part of the park to exercise, relax, entertain or be entertained.

In fact, there's so much to do that a whole website has been developed to help you answer the where, when, what, who and how questions you may have.

Visit the Centennial Parklands website for more information.

Like our community, the Parklands has grown and changed, but welcomes everyone who respects and cares for it.

The time has come for a renewed commitment to Centennial Parklands for future generations. As Sydney grows, so do the demands on these much-loved Parklands.

The Friends of Centennial Parklands has been created so that you can support and contribute to the well being of the Parklands for future generations to come.
